Cod Liver Oil, 100 caps

Cod Liver Oil assists in maintaining a healthy immune system and help ease symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. Vitamins A and D are essential for growth, development and the maintenance of skin, tissue, bones, teeth and vision. It regulates bone turnover and growth hormones, and it helps in the absorption and use of calcium in the body. Cod Liver Oil provides excellent cardiovascular support.

Jamieson Cod Liver Oil contains Vitamins A and D that work synergistically to support reproduction, regulate bone turnover and growth hormones, maintain bone density, and support the immune system.

Cod liver oil naturally contains Vitamin D3. It also contains EPA and DHA, which facilitate smooth blood flow through the vessels. The EPA and DHA found in cod liver oil are purified to remove all traces of mercury and other micro-contaminants that are normally found in cold-water fish.

Restrictions

Drug Interactions: Isotretinoin or other acne drugs can increase blood levels of Vitamin A. Vitamin D interacts adversely with anti-coagulant drugs, calcium channel blockers, magnesium-containing antacids.

Nutrient Depletions: Alcohol; coffee; cortisone; mineral oil; nitrates, and HMG-CoA Reductase Inhibitors (used to lower elevated cholesterol levels) may deplete the body’s stores of Vitamin A. Vitamin D can be depleted by corticosteroids, anti-asthmatic drugs/bronchodilators, anti-cholesterol drugs/HMG CoA Reductase Inhibitors, anti-tuberculosis drugs, histamine (H2) blocking drugs, progestins.

Supportive Drug Interactions: Vitamin E and zinc help the body use Vitamin A. Vitamin A enhances the absorption of iron in food, and may be beneficial for those on immunosuppressant medications. Vitamin D works with calcium to maintain strong bones and healthy teeth.

Warnings and Precautions: None known when taken as directed.

Toxicity, Adverse Warnings and Side Effects: Do not exceed recommended dosage. Excess Vitamin A can cause weakness, vomiting, dry skin, brittle nails, hair that easily falls out, bleeding gums, weight loss, irritability, fatigue, nausea, and cirrhosis of the liver.

Excess vitamin D can increase blood levels of calcium, leading to weight loss, nausea, and damage to the heart and kidneys. It can also cause a weakening of the bones and deposition of calcium in the soft tissues (i.e. muscles). Too much Vitamin D can also cause diarrhea or constipation, headache, appetite loss, nausea, vomiting, extreme fatigue, and heartbeat irregularities.
