Restrictions

Warning: Consult a health care practitioner if symptoms persist or worsen, or persist continuously for more than 1 month (chronic insomnia). Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you have asthma, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypoglycemia, immune system disease, a hormonal disorder, liver or kidney disease, cerebral palsy, seizure disorders, migraine, depression and/or hypertension or if you are taking blood pressure sedative/hypnotic/psychotropic, anticoagulant, anticonvulsant medications or steroids. Consumption with alcohol, other medications or health products with sedative properties is not recommended. Do not use if you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you are taking immunosuppressive drugs. DO not drive or use machinery for 5 hours after taking melatonin. Some people may experience drowsiness. Exercise caution I operating heavy machinery, driving a motor vehicle or involved in activities requiring mental alertness. Hyper sensitivity has been known to occur, in which case discontinue use.

Drug Interactions

Melatonin: Antidepressant medications, antipsychotic medications, blood pressure medications, blood thinning medications, anticoagulants, steroids and immunosuppressant medications. Dietary supplements such as 5-HTP, kava kava, or valerian in combination with melatonin
may increase its sedative side effects.

Lemon Balm: May increase the effects of hypnotic and/or anxiolytic drugs – including pentobarbital and hexobarbital.

German Chamomile: Warfarin, benzodiazepine diazepam, benzodiazepine flunitrazepam, phenacetin
and morphine. Chamomile may also inhibit the absorption of non-heme iron.1

Lavender: Lavender may increase drowsiness when used with sedative medications.

Nutrient Depletions
Melatonin: Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), calcium channel blockers (nifedipine, verapamil, diltiazem, amlodipine, nimodipine,
felodipine, nisoldipine, beprimil), beta-blockers may reduce melatonin production in the body, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), caffeine, tobacco, alcohol can all diminish levels of melatonin in the body.

TOXICITY, ADVERSE REACTIONS, AND SIDE EFFECTS
Lavender:Allergic reaction can occur in those with hypersensitivity to members of the mint family (Labiatae) such as oregano or thyme.
